Richard Lyew, AIA  of Studio Lyew and Nikolas Hill are both archidads; balancing architecture and parenting under one roof.  The new norm for them include alternating work/parenting schedules and sharing a co-working space in the dining room.

Richard has been practicing as an architect in Washington DC since 2009. He received a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from the University of the West Indies in 2000, and a Master of Architecture from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2006. His background in engineering has been instrumental in his approach to seamlessly combine design with functionality. Over the last 15 years, he has worked as a successful project architect gaining experience with a myriad of building types including residential, healthcare, hospitality, education and commercial work. Richard is LEED (sustainability) certified and licensed to practice in DC, MD & VA. Outside of architecture, he enjoys cooking for family & friends, and running.

Facility Design Manager/Lover of Shrubs and Donuts

Long career working in architectural design firms, last 8 in E/A firms on transportation infrastructure projects. Work at HDR as a Facility Design Manager in Vehicle Operations & Maintenance Facilities, and as a Project Manager for other transportation multi-disciplinary projects.
